As of today, August 20th, we are only a thousand dollars short of our goal of $35,000 for the Parish House Roof. We anticipate that it will be put on in October. That will be a wonderful greening of our facility.
Our Treats and Treasures event was so successful that we decided to extend the sale for three hours on Saturday morning. Thanks to everyone who help. Your generosity is amazing!
We are happy to report that we made a hundred dollars from Basilleo’s Pizza night. And a couple people through in an extra donation in the blue envelopes in the sanctuary because they couldn’t be there for pizza night. Great job!
Our delicious and city-acclaimed Ham Dinner will be on Saturday, April 23rd. Unbelievably scrumptious ham, potato salad, baked beans, and dessert are on the menu. Peace Coffee, fair-trade….organic….shade-grown…locally roasted will be served. A silent auction follows. Tickets are $10 for adults and children 6-12 years of age are $5.00. Children five and under eat free. Tickets are available at the Nook and Cranny.
Representatives from twelve United Church of Christ churches met on March 30th to approved Deb Braun for ordination to Word and Sacrament ministry. It was a wonderful day. Deb presented superbly and the decision was to ORDAIN HER. Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 15th at 3:00 pm. This very, very special event in the life of our church will be held in our sanctuary. Many visitors are expected and a vegetarian supper will follow. Congratulations, Deb.

We have raised $20,000 of the $35,000 we need for the new roof. Last week the Council announced that we have a matching grant to get us to the goal. Every $50 donation will be matched with $25 and every $100 will be matched with $50. All gifts of any size are welcome. Let’s raise the roof!
It is amazing to look at the beautiful and clever work of our resident artist, Shirley Rainey. She gave us quite a gift. After a couple of months of painting, we have a Noah’s Ark unlike anyone else. THANK YOU, SHIRLEY!
An engaging presentation was made on Sunday, August 30, 2015, when the congregation learned of the work and witness of Dr. Monica and Rev. Tom Liddle. The Liddles served in East Timor for three years before returning to the states where Tom got his Masters of Divinity and became ordained in the United Church of Christ. They have been re-appointed to return next year. Regrettably, the circumstances are now much different than they were in 2009 when the Global Ministry Board of the United Church of Christ and the mission arm of the Disciples of Christ were able to fully fund the Liddles and their work on this small half-island. Today they can return when they have raised the money needed to support the program!
Dr. Monica is a naturopathic physician and midwife. Tom worked initially as a jack of all trades, helping build structures, repair buildings, put in drainage ditches and more. Now Tom will return to work with the tiny congregations of East Timor. They are excited to return.
The Minnesota Conference of the United Church of Christ has given the Liddles a good start on their fundraising by gifting them with $50,000 and offering to match donations from the Minnesota Conference Churches dollar for dollar up to another $50,000! The Congregational Church of Faribault paid Dr. Monica for speaking at worship on the 30th and collected another $181 at Fifth Sunday brunch.
The program opened our eyes to a part of the world we knew virtually nothing about. Now we want to know more. If you were not able to be with us on August 30th, you can still contribute to the Liddles’ East Timor fund. Mark a check or place your donation in an appropriately marked envelope and we’ll send it on its way. Thanks.
